Big Life Changes and Chasing My Dreams

It's my birthday today! I'm at my favourite cafe, treating myself to a delicious breakfast and tackling a few things on my to-do list.

However, I couldn't stop thinking about the year gone by and everything that's happened. It's been a big year (to say the least!). So while I wait for my second coffee and hash browns with eggs, I thought I'd share a few of my thoughts with you.

This time last year, my business wasn't even born yet. The idea was there- after all, I'd finished studying psychology, coaching and counselling the year before and I was absolutely loving writing for my (previous) blog. I knew I wanted to help people in a meaningful way and I was passionate about sharing my own stories and experiences to connect with others.

A few months after my last birthday, I left my full-time job and launched my new website and business. It was a scary, exciting, amazing time and I will always be grateful for the support and guidance I received during these big changes.

Within a few months, I'd launched my podcast (The Mindful Kind), which crazily enough, shot to the top of the charts with amazing reviews and reached more people than I ever could have imagined!

I made countless changes to my website and spent hours shaping it into the online space I wanted it to be.

I wrote and published two eBooks, with the incredible help of my talented designer (who also happens to be my wonderful man!).

I've coached one on one, hosted a workshop and spoken at events (despite my fears of public speaking!).

Not to mention all the huge life changes which happened since my last birthday- moving to a new home, adopting our gorgeous puppy (little Moose!), reconnecting with old friends and meeting even more wonderful people to welcome into my life.

It's been an amazing year of learning and growing and truly figuring out what I want in life.

Less of the material things and daydreaming about the “perfect” future, and more time appreciating the simple pleasures and making the most of every moment as it happens.

In saying all that, this year has challenged me in many different ways, from realising that owning a business is damn hard (and I still don't feel like I know what I'm doing sometimes!), to facing up to my own internal battles and taking them on for the first time in my life. What I'm doing this week:

Getting my hair done (finally!) and co-hosting the ALIGNED workshop in Melbourne.

Self-care practices I've been using:

Meditation, yin yoga and long, hot baths.

On my to-do list:

Answer emails, record the next episode of The Mindful Kind podcast, publish this article, pick up my workbooks from the printer, write the next chapter of my upcoming eBook, clean the bathroom, finish planning for the next round of The Mindful Kind Challenge and draft my weekly newsletter.

What I'm excited about:

The ALIGNED workshop! I can't wait to meet our lovely guests and have a fun and meaningful day together. I'm really looking forward to giving them their beautiful gift bags and sharing more about mindfulness in a personal setting.
I'm also looking forward to receiving my new yoga mat from Mukti Mats!

Three things I've never done before (but would like to!):

Nude yoga, a meditation retreat and explore a European country.

Three things I've done this year (and I'm really glad I did!):

Launched my podcast, adopted our little Moose and went on fun adventures with my friends (perhaps most memorable, the winery and Wanderlust trips with Bec).

My favourite material things:

Combardis Elixir mists, my phone, my Dailygreatness journals and my comfortable bed. Oh, and my rings! I rarely take them off.

Something I would like to remember from this week:

The beautiful messages I've received so far for my birthday and the people who sent them. I feel very lucky to have such wonderful, kind and supportive people in my life!

What I'm scared of:

My business growing and being judged by people who don't know me. I know I shouldn't let it get to me, but it does!

Something I would like to learn:

How to teach yin yoga.

My biggest hopes for the coming year:

To keep connecting with people and share my messages of mindfulness. Spend quality time with my boyfriend and our dog and my family and friends. More of the things which make me feel good, such as yin yoga, good books, hot baths and journalling.
